An evening with FASHIONISTA :D

It seems that I can’t enough of this place no matter how often I come here. It’s usual that when you go to a new place you are excited and somehow in a asense thrilled to explore that place. You are ready to perceive every new things that appears before your eyes, Whether that is landmark,  leaf on a tree or dust on ground.

As I have said in my previous blogs that this place AKA Hanumandhoka Durbar Square, one the heritage site enlisted by UNESCO has never missed its dart to astonished me. I have been to this place alone, with a whole bunch of friends. Recent visit was the first time that I actually came here with my cousins.

Before that day, my plans were very simple; to stay at home and finished some work that I have put aside due my akward laziness and unavoidable mood of doing nothing. But the day has a different plan. It was supposed to be the that I had to pull that so called savings for emergency form my wallet.

Well talking about those who accompained me that day were as i have already mentioned were my cousins. One was my brother and the next was my sister . There is not much to say about him but a lot much about her. She always has the image of a FASHIONISTA in my head. Even when she dresses up like a kid or say old grandma, I think everything suits her no matter how or what she puts on. I have been to lot of places with her, I had learned a lot of things form her….. but this was first time that we actually went to somewhere just for sake of roaming around.

SO it was supposed to the hippy or say hipster look that she endorshed that day. The surrounding and the time in a sense perfectly complimented her look. Well i’m not talk about what she wore that day, I probably don’t know the names of the things that was on her. She flaunted it dispite two boys walking beside her on each side. I don’t know how we end of being late and as I have mentioned in my earlier blog about how hard it is here to get the public vehicle. All of us were being haunted by that particular fear of not being fortunate enough to place our bum in those warm seats.

We rushed towards the station dodging all those people scattered on the way. We were highly trained :p and experienced in doing so. But it came out that we were not trained how to avoid the street foods. The smell of those and the crowed around them was something that we were unable to ignore and got dragged over to it. I found out that my FASHIONISTA and my brother were not so familiar about the street foods.

Being a big of fast food lover served on street, I was obliged to make them familiar with all the delicacies. So this was that moment when I started to poke into my wallet to get that saving out :D. We tasted a few things as we were running out time. But I think i enjoyed the food much more than they enjoyed it. It wasn’t my first time but who cares, I tried talking with the vendors with the hope of getting a little more than what he serves.

Asking where they from, what they do in the meantime beside selling all those, where they reside, about their families and how they make that food so tasty are some of my queries that I put before them. 🙂 it usually works :D. They are happy to share it and in between that everything they put a bit more makes me HAPPY so here its a two way shared happiness.

So that day, after baing unimaginably fortunate to sit inside the bus I called it a delightful and of day. God was happy with me that day that as we reached home, a surprise was awaitng us :D. With a belly full of street food I still managed to make some space for the food that was showcased on the table. I could resist but to go for it. I cant imagine how much I ate. But I must tell this was very time that I actually thought I cant take anymore, I was almost not able to push that last chunk of meat inside 😛 😀 hahahahhaha….. so after that I decided that I had enough.

So yes…… I had a simple planned afernoon, A wonderful evening with my Fashionista 🙂 and a surprised good night meal at the end. A perfect ending for a perfect unplanned day. 🙂 A lot of thanks to my cousins for a wonderful time. I had it, hope you guys had it too……. 🙂 hopeful for further similar extravaganza.

Now I think may its because I was with her the god was so gleeful upon me…. I doubt though.

“stop pushing, there are still people getting out”

Yet again, let’s begin.
it been long since I last came here to write something down. I have been to a lot of local places around lately. The places I have been to are no new place that I was excited and curious to explore. Even though those places were the places I go often yet, as per my expectations they didn’t backed behind to mesmerize me and amazed me again this time.

Why I got mesmerize this time?? Simply it the time difference that I put between my recent and those so called often visits.

Travelling in KATHMANDU at night can be hectic, troublesome and even dangerous sometime (nothing serious ) especially when you don’t own a personal vehicle. You so want to stay where you are for more time and yet your less intellect and more personal experiences tells you ” If you stick to this for few more minutes than the chances
-to get your bus
-to be able to settle your head and your feet freely inside
the bus is almost streches to ZERO.

and on the top of that
-to get a vacant seat in the bus that will take you to your crashing place goes beyong zero, it goes to the minus(-) zone. “

So with all these previous bus ride experiences, the struggle, the pain of not being able to stand straight inside, the ladies gossips in between, the sweats and on the top of that bumpy road; that can toss out your food resting inside the stomach floor threatens you from staying there and see the night life and if lucky enough to see that place gleaming in the lights.

So with a heavy heart and unsatisfied roaming extravaganza pushing and pulling your feet to head to your home is really difficult. If you are a traveler and love city than the sight seeing, moving your head in 360 degree, stopping by the shops, the food vendors in every corner that forbids you from moving on without taking a peek and inquire what is in the menu and prices constructs an extra mile to the nearby bus stand.

Finally when you get there you see a lot of people wating for that particular bus that you are supposed get in. So when you finally classify those particular by standers so capable to snatch your space inside bus than these by standers are no longer commoner who passes by, they are your competitors. You compete against them, you run after the bus as soon as it enters the open get in zone. You push, you persuade, you lament, “stop pushing, there are still people getting out” is what you say, you put your bag on the seat before you place your bum on it.

If you are able to grab a seat and lay back than you are lucky, consider your self one for real. You definatly will feel like one when you gonna see people standing with difficulty and complaning along the way. You feel like smiling on the bumps that wheels gonna bump into, and when people starts complaining saying….. ahhhhh… kasto khochakoch ( so conjusted ), ahhhh…. ali bistari chalaunu na dai ( please drive slow ) , ajhai kati machey halnu sakeko … thau nai chaina ( there is no place in and still you are letting people in) than all you do is laugh.

You are a winner…you win it hard… all these smile and laugh is deserved.

My city, my life

Kathmandu really is place where you can expect to have anything you want. Whether your desire is to find the best place to dine for the cheapest or the best place to chill out lavishly, a place to get work done or leaving it a place to get lost into. This valley can offer you anything. The perfect blend of modernity and the history through the tall standing infrastructure is what Kathmandu valley is about.

Being the capital and the biggest city of Nepal, Kathmandu valley has a lot of expectations associated with it. People from all over the country comes down in to this valley with hopes of a better life and a better future. For them this valley carries hope, for other a center of educational hub, for the traveler form around the globe it is a place to do all the prep works before heading to their key destinations and to see some of the heritage sites. kathmandu-at-night-nepalAnd

There is the Me, this me has no hopes with this valley, nor takes it as a educational hub or so. Neither this me is a traveler or a guide. For me, this valley is a place to chill out, to roam around and being here for more than two decades still a place to get the surprises. This me has seen this place changed, Seen the worst and is optimistic for an excellent future. This me has loved this city ever since, despite the ongoing changes and some exceptional flaws which can be ignored. Me has been a part of ever since, this is my city and the city is me.  🙂

Me makes this city, me takes this city, me lead this city and this me will never leave this city.

P.S. — There are lot of places to talk about my city, Kathmandu valley as whole. This my attempt to showcase my valley , my city and my country. This effort will continue on my upcoming post. Keep in touch if you want to know more. And I don’t own this photo.

Dynamic PATAN

I have been to this place four times to be exact.

I came here with my relatives for the first time.

Then the second time it was with my school friend on ” Krishna Janmaasthami ” If I’m not wrong.

Moving on the most memorable visit to remember, that time I came here was not to see the place but to attend a concert.

And the very last was a recent visit of this place.

But as much as I can remember, every time I have been here the place seemed different for me. It felt like I’m here for the first time. Nothing looked familiar to me.

I remember the first time I came here, I stroll around this place with my small little cousin. I can recall big temples built with stones and even the whole property ground was paved with flat stones. We passed through small “gallis” ( alleys ), a lot of sweet shops with mouth watering exhibition of delicacies. Though non of them reached my mouth, these were the days I has very light pockets. 😀

Similarly during the second visit, may it’s because it was raining or so, I saw the floor or the entire place paved with bricks, it was red red every where, it was crowded with Hindu devotees. long queue in spiral and all odd geometrical shapes. Colorful umbrellas, women wearing bright attires. It was mad situation for me, bells ringing, bright colors, “Bhajans” , a cozy landscape and top on that it was raining. People like whose intention similar to mine were all looking for a place to avoid the rain, and the particular place where we gather were like ahh…. I could hardly breathe among.

The most memorable the third time I came here during a concert, I have never seen such a crowd before besides on television. We, my friends include got lost. We couldn’t even find the main concert ground. I have been to this place before not once but twice, but still incapable to find the right way. After struggling for more than a good thirty minutes, we got to the main ground and to my dismay I could hardly move because of the crowd and getting a glimpse of the band member was out of imagination. I could hear them so loud and clear but unable to see them.

The recent visit was how do I summarize it??? Well the plan was  to be here, with no specific motto but as soon as we stepped here our prime focus was to find a place to fill our tummy. I was with some of the most amazing people to be around with. If  I would have come here alone, I could have explore this place more, sit somewhere quietly. But having them was a different joy. Though we were rushing to find a place to eat, the time we spent around we rocked that place. In the mean time we hardly take a breathe of  relief and the sight seeing, I hardly could memorize the infrastructure.

I was unable to find the old paths as I hoped but searching for a cheap yet best place to dine Let us explore new allays of this place ( thanks to our well instructed yet confused guides :p. Things I missed before ; the market, the people, the promotion, the busyness, the fun, cheap yet best food ( was it ?? ) overall A living town was what I saw in my recent visit.

The town really changed for me, I personally felt that the town changed. Because I was unable to relate anything similar with my previous visit with my recent. It may be due to the time time difference; 1st time when I came here was a fine morning time, 2nd was a fine afternoon+ raining , third it was during the a busy crowded night and the recent falls between a fine morning and a fine afternoon with slight rainfall. The 2nd reason could be my entry, because all this time I have never enter this place from the same place, it has been different every time I came here. …. hmmm….. :/

You guys must be wondering what place I’m talking about. Well the place that has appeared  in different disguises in  my each visit is non other than PATAN DURBAR SQUARE. I have been here in the rise. I have been here during the dawn and in between afternoon. I wish to come here again before the dawn and after mid noon and see if the place still surprises me or not.

a noisy silence

the loud and the small hung bells , the crowd, the free strolling animals, the sages, the vendors and scattered cow dungs that laid everywhere on the road.

YOU can see the PREGNANT seeking blessing

YOU can see the TODDLERS scaring the grazing birds

YOU can see the YOUNG with their perfections

YOU can see the OLD singing their heart out

YOU can see the DEATH in the verge of ‘MOKSH’

YOU can see the ULTIMATE ALMIGHTY who surround everything

the HOLY PASHUPATINATH is what it is I’m chattering about

A place that defines PEACE and NOISE , a place that defines BIRTH and DEATH, a common shared spot by the INSANE and the enlightened SAGES, a landmark that provides an ANIMAL and a MAN equally. A place that can show you the phase before birth and the unavoidable finale before you will be judge.

You can never feel contained enough if you go around , you can hear the loud bells yet you feel so calm inside. You may get scared with the free jumping monkeys and the old roaming animals with horns, but to counter don’ts forget you are scaring them too. take a little time out from your early bed cuddling and take a ride, drive or best of all option take a walk to this place. Keep your mind open ( for everything you gonna be at), keep no static opinion , keep your eyes open ( for the colors, the madness and the all others usual and unusual things you will notice) , nose ( for the smell of freshly burning flesh, and the fragrance of  incense ) , an open ear ( for the ringing, the sore all morning ‘bhajan’ singing, the enchanting mantras) and frequently opening lips if you are getting a cup of coffee while you sit and perceive all this wonders.

Take a look around, and since you are already here bow before the stone statue, touch it , take it your heart and complete it on your forehead. Take it for free or if you want pay for it, a ‘tika’ on your forehead. There is so much to see, there is so much to go be at, there is so much you can do, a lot of things to exercise your teeth for, things to admire and the things you can not stop yourself from criticizing. You gonna notice the bad , you gonna notice the wonder, you gonna see the degradation but on the contrary you gonna feel the best , will ignore the worst and the growing attempt to make it better. Over all a place that holds so much will definitely will make you happy and surprisingly RELIGIOUS. 🙂
